Overview
Cove is a wellbeing and day-planning app for iOS (“Cove”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Cove handles, why, and the choices you have. The short version: Cove collects as little as possible, keeps your most sensitive data on your device, and never sells your data or shows you ads.
Information we collect
Depending on the features you choose to use, Cove may handle:
- Account information. If you sign in (for example, with Google, Microsoft, or Apple), we receive your name, email address, and a basic profile identifier so we can recognize your account.
- Calendar data. If you connect a Google, Microsoft, or Apple calendar, Cove reads your events and, with your action, creates or updates events (for example, time blocks you plan in Cove). Calendar data is used solely to display your schedule and manage the time blocks you create.
- Apple Health data. If you grant access via Apple HealthKit, Cove reads vitals such as heart rate, sleep, and activity to make gentle, timely suggestions. Health data is processed on your device, is never used for advertising, and is never sold or shared with third parties. Cove may compute a single coarse energy label — tired, steady, or bright — on your device from this data; only that label, never a raw health value, is ever included as context for your chosen AI provider.
- Location, for weather. If you allow it, Cove uses your location to fetch local weather through Apple WeatherKit. Your coordinates go to Apple’s weather service to answer the request and are not stored by Cove.
- Voice input. If you speak to Cove, the microphone and on-device speech recognition transcribe your words on your iPhone. The audio itself never leaves your device; only the resulting text is sent to the AI provider you have chosen.
- Companion conversations. Messages you send to Cove’s built-in AI companion are processed by the AI provider you select (see “AI providers” below) to generate a response.
- App activity. Your plans, routines, focus sessions, and preferences, stored so the app works and can sync across your devices via iCloud.
Cove does not store your location, does not access your contacts, and does not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
Google user data & Limited Use
If you connect a Google Account, Cove accesses Google Calendar data only to display your schedule, plan time blocks, and keep your Cove timeline in sync.
Cove’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- Google user data is used only to provide user-facing features of Cove that you have requested.
- Google user data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- Google user data is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide the feature you requested, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with prior notice to you.
- Humans do not read your Google user data unless you give explicit consent, it is necessary for security or legal compliance, or it has been aggregated and anonymized.
- Google user data is not used to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
AI providers
Cove’s companion is powered by Google’s Gemini by default; you can switch to Anthropic’s Claude or to on-device Apple Intelligence in Cove’s settings. When you use a cloud provider, the content of your conversation (and any context you have explicitly allowed Cove to share, such as today’s schedule) is sent to that provider to generate a response, subject to their privacy terms. If you choose Apple Intelligence, processing happens on your device. Calendar data obtained from Google APIs is not used to train AI models.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve Cove’s features.
- To sync your routines and preferences across your devices.
- To make on-device wellbeing suggestions based on data you share.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Storage, security & retention
Your plans, routines, and preferences are stored on your device and synced through your personal iCloud account using Apple’s key-value store; Cove operates no server of its own that stores this data. Calendar tokens are stored securely using the iOS Keychain. Data in transit is protected with TLS. We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide the service; when you disconnect a calendar or delete your account, the associated tokens and data are deleted.
Your choices
- You can disconnect Google, Microsoft, or Apple calendars at any time in Cove’s settings; this revokes Cove’s access and deletes stored tokens. For Google, you can also revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- You can manage Apple Health access at any time in the iOS Health app.
- You can request deletion of any data associated with your account by contacting us at the address below.
Age requirements
You must be at least 16 years old to use Cove. Cove is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
